NAPA al SITL di Mumbai

Tra il 23 ed il 25 febbraio 2012 la NAPA (North Adriatic Ports Association), che oltre al porto di Capodistria comprende quelli di Ravenna, Venezia, Trieste e Fiume, ha presentato le loro attività durante l’International Week of Transport and Logistics – SITL a Mumbai, India.

Zeljko Glavan, vicepresidente dell’Autorità Portuale di Fiume, che detiene la presidenza della NAPA per il primo semestre del 2012, ha presentato le attività dell’associazione e l’importanza dell’area del nord Adriatico come passaggio per i crescenti flussi di merci provenienti dall’India e le opportunità per gli spedizionieri indiani. Le proiezioni future prevedono un incremento dei volumi commerciali tra il Sud Asia e l’Europa, mentre la rotta adriatica sta guadagnando del riconoscimento.
Glavan ha sottolineato che i porti del Nord Adriatico sono una via estremamente efficace, per costo e tempo, per le merci proveniente al di là del Canale di Suez. Ha inoltre evidenziato che tutti e cinque i porti sono impegnati in importanti progetti di sviluppo per incrementare le loro capacità, in particolare il settore container.
Nel 2011 i porti Napa hanno accolto più di 124 milioni di tonnellate di varie merci, incluse 1.8 milioni di TEU.

Durante l’esposizione Glavan ha partecipato ad una conferenza parallela che riuniva esperti di logistica, industria, commercio, mondo politico ed istituzionale. Si è rivolto al pubblico con la presentazione dal titolo "Ports and supply chain sustainability – the North Adriatic perspective" e sottolineato che i porti giocheranno un ruolo cruciale nel futuro della politica europea dei trasporti che mira a pratiche rispettose dell’ambiente. A questo proposito il Nord Adriatico rappresenta un ingresso ecologico all’Europa con benefici concreti in termini di costi e di risparmio di emissioni.

Durante la manifestazione, i rappresentati NAPA hanno incontrato Shri Rajeev Gupta, presidente del Mumbai Port Trust, e hanno discusso sulle possibili modalità di collaborazione e sfide future per i porti.
I membri Napa hanno inoltre incontrato i rappresentanti della Shipping Corporation of India, che gestisce i vari servizi di trasporto per diversi tipi di carico. Il colloquio era orientato verso la creazione di un servizio container regolare rivolto ai porti indiani e a quelli dell’Adriatico.

Mr. Zeljko Glavan, vice - president of the Rijeka Port Authority, which holds the presidency of NAPA for the first semester of 2012, presented the activities of the Association and the importance of the North Adriatic area as a gateway for increasing cargo flows from India and opportunities for Indian shippers. The future projections forecast increasing trade volumes between South Asia and Europe, while the Adriatic transport route is gaining on recognition. He stressed that North Adriatic ports are cost and time extremely effective gateways for cargo coming beyond Suez canal. He underlined that all five ports have undertaken important development projects to increase their capacity, especially in the container segment. In 2011 NAPA ports handled more than 124 million tonnes of various cargo, including 1.8 million TEUs.

During the exhibition Glavan participated at the parallel conference which brought together experts from logistics, industry, commerce and political and institutional worlds. He addressed the audience with the presentation titled »Ports and supply chain sustainability – the North Adriatic perspective« and he stressed that ports will play a crucial role in the future of European transport policy, which aims to environmental friendly practices. In this respect the North Adriatic represents a green gateway to Europe with tangible benefits in terms of cost and emissions savings.

During the exhibition the NAPA representatives met with Mr. Shri Rajeev Gupta, Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust and discussed about possible ways of cooperation and future challenges for all ports. During the exhibition members of NAPA met also with representatives of Shipping Corporation of India, which manages various shipping services for different types of cargo. Talks were oriented towards the establishment of a regular direct container service between Indian ports and Adriatic.
